A complete transformation of a suburban home using locally-sourced materials and contemporary design elements to foster a cosy yet modern living environment.
Rooted in a deep appreciation for warmth, texture, and everyday functionality, this family home redesign blends earthy sophistication with subtle modernism. Inspired by the tones of Australian landscapes and the honest beauty of natural materials, the concept balances form and function to create a space that feels grounded yet refined. The material palette, featuring fluted amber cabinetry, recycled timber, brushed brass, and limestone-look porcelain - was selected not only for its visual impact but for its durability and child-friendly practicality. A nod to sustainability and sentimentality is evident in the refurbishment of a beloved vintage armchair, anchoring the design in both memory and longevity.
With young children in mind, every design decision was made to support ease of living, tactile experience, and emotional connection to space. The warm timber joinery, layered lighting, and softened textures create zones of calm and comfort, while the subtle injection of contrast through moody paint selections and sculptural lighting offers a sense of polish. This design doesn’t chase trend—it builds a narrative around the family who lives within it. The result is a home that feels curated yet lived-in, expressive yet understated—a true reflection of the clients’ values, lifestyle, and evolving story.
